New Academic Year Ceremony at DTU

On the evening of 2nd October, 2010, a new academic year ceremony was held to warmly welcome the freshmen of 2010-2011. Attending were members of the DTU Management Board, the Board of Rectors, lecturers and students.

Mr. Le Cong Co beats the drum to start the new academic year

Mr. Le Cong Co, Chairman of the Management Board and Rector of DTU talked about the fields of study, and beat a drum to start the new academic year. He said: “Being a DTU student, you must study hard to achieve the goals set by the university. We not only train students in English language and computer skills but also nourish the spirits of the future generation. I know that DTU will provide great environment for you and a place to improve your lives at the same time”.

Mr. Le Cong Co awards a scholarship to Duong Thi Phuong Thao

Also at the ceremony, the Board of Rectors awarded 68 scholarships (worth 77,500,000 VND) to 2010 enrolling students with outstanding results in the university entrance examinations. Duong Thi Phuong Thao, a student in the Department of International Training had the highest mark and was awarded a scholarship, worth 4,000,000 VND. Thao said happily: “I am very surprised to be the one with the outstanding students this year. At first, I registered to study Commercial English at Saigon University. However, when I heard about the partnership between Duy Tan University and Penn State University; I decided to study at DTU. I am proud to be awarded this scholarship and I am going to spend the money on buying stationery and materials for the new school year”.

The ceremony included some excellent performances by students. The performances were well-produced and made the ceremony even more enjoyable.

The enrolment targets for the new academic year were high, especially for private universities. However, with sixteen years of experience, DTU enrolled more than 3.200 students meeting the goal set by MOET. The new academic year 2010-2011 will be a remarkable one of promising achievements at DTU.
